We open on June 19th!
We are happy to confirm that the Atlantic Inn will be opening for the 2020 season on Friday, June 19th.
In order to do so safely during these trying times, your visit may be a bit different than in past years. Our signature warm hospitality, stunning views and beautiful grounds remain the same; but some of our practices and procedures have been updated to follow CDC and State of Rhode Island rules to ensure everyone remains safe and protected as possible.
These rules and regulations are changing frequently, and we will adapt as needed for your and our staff’s safety. Please check our website frequently prior to your arrival, or give us a ring to chat about updates. We are very fortunate that many of the activities we come to Block Island to enjoy, such as the beach, biking, hiking, enjoying sunsets, kayaking and more can be done safely while observing mandated guidelines.
We are working hard to protect our guests, staff and property; and we need your help to do so. We have mandated our workers wear masks and endeavor to remain 6 feet away from others whenever possible; and we are asking all guests to observe state law and do the same. We kindly ask you to please wear a mask and observe social distancing when you are in the common areas and grounds; pretty much everywhere other than the privacy of your room. Also, please no gathering in groups larger than 15. These are the current laws, and there is no flexibility here; they are in place to help protect you, our staff and other guests.
We have endeavored to elevate our already strict standards of cleanliness; and have made some changes to our housekeeping policies. In addition to the usual thorough cleaning and complete changing of all linens between guests, each room will now be sanitized with an electrostatic machine. This takes extra time, so we are asking for your help in observing our 11:00am and 3:00pm check out/check in times. As always, we are happy to store your luggage (in our common area as in the past ) so you can continue to enjoy the full day on Block Island.
Also, in order to minimize exposure during your stay, our housekeepers will no longer be entering your rooms unprompted. Should you need fresh towels, trash removed, etc during your stay; simply call the front desk or place the hanging tag indicating this on your door. Our staff will be happy to comply.
We are no longer able to offer our breakfast buffet, as the law says that manner of service is currently not permitted. The same goes for self-serve water and coffee. We will be offering a new style of breakfast service; and it will be fresh, delicious and safely served to you at tables appropriately spaced at recommended distances in our dining room.
We will be adapting our check in and check out procedures to minimize contact. Our lobby is small, and we ask that you remain 6 feet apart and wait your turn when checking in. In order to speed up this process, we will be contacting you prior to your arrival to collect your payment information. Prior to check in, we will charge the card of your choice the balance due on your lodging. For check out, we will charge your card on file if there are any dining or incidental charges, and will e-mail you a receipt the morning of your departure. We are hoping this will ease congestion in our small lobby; as well as make the process quicker for all guests.
We sincerely appreciate your support and patience as we continue to learn how to best function during these days. We are continually very grateful for our Atlantic Inn guests and hope that we can work together to keep this place we all love safe and enjoyable!
Anne & Brad Marthens and all of our staff…
