2022 Update from the Atlantic Inn
Dear Friends and Valued Guests of the Atlantic Inn,
We hope this finds you well and looking forward to your Block Island visit! We wanted to take the time to reach out to you with a 2021 update. Many have asked how things are at the Atlantic Inn right now.
We are happy to report that the 2022 Season is off to a good start; and it has been wonderful to welcome back many happy guests and meet new faces. Safety is a partnership and we have been very appreciative of the care and respect shown by the guests that have been with us so far this season.
Your visits are needed and appreciated more than ever this summer, but it may look a bit different than in past years. Our warm hospitality, stunning views and beautiful grounds remain the same; but some of our practices and procedures have been updated to follow CDC and State of Rhode Island rules to ensure everyone remains safe and protected as possible.
These rules and regulations are changing frequently, and we will adapt as needed to ensure safety. Please check our website frequently prior to your arrival, or give us a ring to chat. We are very fortunate that many of the activities we come to Block Island to enjoy, such as the beach, biking, hiking, enjoying sunsets, kayaking and more can be done safely while observing mandated guidelines.
We are no longer able to offer our breakfast buffet, as the law says that manner of service is currently not permitted. We will continue to offer coffee and tea each morning; but will no longer be offering breakfast. We are happy to recommend our friends down in town like Persephone’s Kitchen, the Old Post Office Bagel Shop, Ernie’s, Bethany’s Airport Diner, the Cracked Mug and more.
We have endeavored to elevate our already strict standards of cleanliness; and have made some changes to our housekeeping policies. In addition to the usual thorough cleaning and complete changing of all linens between guests, each room will now be sanitized with an electrostatic machine. This takes extra time, so we are asking for your help in observing our 11:00am and 3:00pm check out/check in times. As always, we are happy to store your luggage (in our common area as in the past ) so you can continue to enjoy the full day on Block Island.
Also, in order to minimize exposure during your stay, our housekeepers will no longer be entering your rooms unprompted. Should you need fresh towels, trash removed, etc during your stay; simply call the front desk or place the hanging tag indicating this on your door. Our staff will be happy to comply.
We will be adapting our check in and check out procedures to minimize contact. Our lobby is small, and we are endeavoring to reduce crowds while checking in. In order to speed up this process, we will be contacting you prior to your arrival to collect your payment information. Prior to check in, we will charge the card of your choice the balance due on your lodging. For check out, we will charge your card on file if there are any dining or incidental charges, and will e‑mail you a receipt the morning of your departure. We are hoping this will ease congestion in our small lobby; as well as make the process quicker for all guests.
We sincerely appreciate your support and patience as we continue to learn how to best function during these days. We are continually very grateful for our Atlantic Inn guests and hope that we can work together to keep this place and the island we all love safe and enjoyable!
Sincerely,
Anne & Brad Marthens and all of our staff…
